MOA EGGS.

About twelve months ago Mr Coard, when working on the EarSscleugh dredge, found a moa's egg, aaid the opinion expressed then (says the correspondent of the "Alexandra Herald") was that others would be found in future operations. This was exemplified the other day, when Mr P. Weaver, who is sluicing away the top stuff, found what he took to be a moa's egg. On examination, however, it was found to be only part of an egg, but nevertheless a very large part, only the top being missing. Although a search was made for the remainder of the shell, it could not be found, much to tlie discomfiture of the finder. When one complete specimen and part of another are found at different ends of the olaim, it would be safe to hazard the opinion that other eggs and possibly skeletons, of tho extinct bird will be found.
