THURSDAY'S WEATHER. . FnoM Ouservatioxs Taken - at 9 a.m. The weather to-day was 'generally fine, but rain fell at Napier and Castle Point. Tho prevailing winds were from the east and south-east. at most places in the North Island and in the northern part of the South Island. In the southern portion- of th'e latter they were , westerly. The temperature in the North Island varied from 58(le<_ at Cape Maria van Diemen to 43d2g ! at Taupo, and that in the South from i F-Odeg at Invercargill to 24deg at the Bealey. Af Christchurch it was 35deg. The ■barometric range was small, and was about the same as on the preceding day. It varied from 30.58 at Clyde to 30.15 at Capo Campbell. The Christchurch reading; was 30.56, and the barometer was steady.
