The Government Commission: to inquire into charges in connection with the Newcastle Company's A pit found that the discipline was disgraceful, and that in cases where miners received injuries through fire damp the facts were concealed by the manager, under order from the proper authorities. The Commission also found thai air courses had been obstructed with a view to deceive the Government inspector, though it could not say by whom.
