THE LICENSING QUESTION.

A meeting of ministers of religion, Salvation Army officers and members of temperance organisations was held to-night at the invitation of the. Bishop of Nelson, who presided. A resolution was • unanimously agreed to — "That this meeting affirms the necessity of the abolition of the present licensing system." It was also resolved to- issue circnlars asking the people to vote no license or reduction. Another resolution was carried that the Government should be asked to appoint scrutineers at the next iocal option poll.
