OTAGO UNIVERSITY.

[Per Press Association.] ■;'.'. .. DUNEDIN, June 16. Thdre was a large attendance of graduates and undergraduates at the Choral Hall today, when Sir - James Hector, . the Chancellor, presented the diplomas of the New Zealand University to the graduates of Otago University. The Chancellor's address was on the lines of that given in Auckland. There was one thing, he said, he did not know how to account for. There had been 102 different individuals from Otago who had taken honours in the New Zealand University, and that was an enormous proportion, considering that there .were, only about 180 graduates altogether who had taken higher degrees with honours. Diplomas, were presented as follows: — One Doctor of Laws, one Doctor of Medicjne (Dr Chappie, Wellington, was not present), three Bachelors of Medicine, thirteen Masters of Arts (four being ladies), fourteen Bachelors of Arts (three ladies), four Bachelors of Science and Bachelors of Laws. Addresses were given by Professors GiJray and Sale and. Mr Justice Williams (Cbacellor), and Mr E. . B. Cargili, ViceChancellor of the Otago University. The students are not holding any special celebration. -.---•■..
