THE SEAMEN'S DISPUTE. [Per Pkess Association.] WELLINGTON, June 17. The Conciliation Board has given its award in the seamen's dispute. It refuses to raise or lower the wages, overtime to stand as now, but surfing to be paid Is 9d per hour in the Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson and Manukau trade. The 4 to 8 a.m. watch is to have from 8 to 12 below, provided that seamen are not allowed to leave the ship, and some minor concessions to the men are made in the way of lessening the hours of duty, eight hours from 7 to 5, with two hours for meals, to be recognised as a- day's work ; overtime not to be allowed when work is necessary for the safety of the vessel. XTwenty-four hours' notice to be given on either side. Preference to be given to Union men, provided that the Union admits all competent seamen of good character on paying the present subscription ,but if found to interfere with the discipline or the exigencies of the service, the owner may apply to have the clause modified or struck out. The agreement to be signed for two years.
