SOCIAL RELIGION.
Tho annual social reporc of the Salvation Army shows that in the colonies the Army has 17 Rescne Homes, 7 Maternity Homes, 7 Prison Gate Brigades, 5 Social Farms, 4 Labour Yards, 2 Women's Shelters, 2 Slum Posts, 1 Children's Home, 5 Food Depots, 5 Men's Shelters, 3 Girls' Homes and 2 Boys* Homes. These institutions during the past year have dealt with 2593 persons, of whom 1513 were women, 32 babies and children, 807 men (excriminals and unemployed), and 241 girls and boys who , were mostly Government wards. At the end of the year there were. 646 persons in the various Hoine3. The Army also endeavoured to find 1459 missing people, and succeeded in over 300 cases. It supplied 368,678 beds, and 985,600 meals. In New Zealand it dealt with nearly 600 criminals or outcasts, a large percentage of whom were permanently reclaimed.
