GRAIN AND.TP&ODUCE. . Although the weather, has been very unrfavourable, - a good. deal. .of grain still continues to come forward for shipment, bills' much is rejected. at -..the. ship's side. The wheat market is a shade tinner, and although speculators for shipment have.secured all that isi-wanted for the present, local millers andi buyers for the North'lsland show a keen-interest in all that is pn the market, and, any prime samples offefied meet with a ready sale at a slightly advanced rate. Oajts.are'/eoming forward, very sparingly, and ..the market shows a still further hardening tendency. Nothing* .bas been doing in .Mrieyr.as there is no prime malting offering, although there are quite a number of inquiries- for this gradej-.but feed sorts, which are plentiful), are not in request. The news- from Sydney as to* the potato market, is of. a very unsatisfactory nature. The '.market there has dropped to 42s 6d, and a good,taa*y shippers from; here of Blue Deiwents- haye had their draffs returned, and the potatoes rejected, the- reason given being .the very-bad state in which the cons : gnments have arrived. This has had the effect cf putting; the market back"- here, and yesterday 17s" 6d was the best 'offer at country stations-, and even at thcbo.' price buyers were- not anxious to operate- . Great difficulty is experienced in getting (/diggers, and as the 'growers have to pay,- on an average, 6s* per ton, at present prices there is very little' left'ftfr them after paying other charges and delivering.
