A SUPPOSED MESSAGE FROM THE SEA.
[Per Pbjsss Association.} NE.L.BON, May 18. A bottle, containing an alleged message from the sea, has been unearthed by some men who were excavating- a site for a boatshed near the Maori Pan at Wakapuaka. The paper is written in pencil and dated Feb. 3, 1879 (1869 scratched out), stating that the persons signing it were the sole survivors of the ship Prince of Battenburg, which bad been wrecked off the Canary Inlands, and hopintr that this would meet the eye of some relative. The signatures are: — W. Davis, J. M'Doupall, S. Moore, A.B.'s, Miss A. F. Indish, Mrs F. Lindall or Tindall, and Mr F. Lindall. The pen-, cilling glistens freshly and its genuineness is doubtful
