A meting of the New Zea__«l. Cricket Council Was held- last evening, at* theClarendon Hotel ; present — Messrs F. Wilding (chairman), W . D. Meares, A. Pairbairn, C. R. Clark, J. U. Collins, J. N. Fowke. C. A. Treweek, T. D. Harman, J. H. W ood_ F. C. Raphael, W. H. Wanklyn, H. Perkins, H. D. Carter and G. A. U. Tapper (honorary secretary). A letter was read from the Hunter River Cricket Association (New South Wales), asking if the New Zealand team could play a match with its team during the Australian tour. Thet Secretary was instructed to reply that it would be impossible tc arrange the fixture. A letter ■was read from the Auckland Cricket Association, regretting that lack of funds prevented it from 'giving any guarantee towards the expenses of the Australian tour. Mr Tapper reported that the Canterbury, Otago and Wellington Associations had guaranteed £50 each, and Hawke's Bay £15. Tbe Wanganui Cricket Association's ap]_ication for affiliation was granted, _Ir C. R. Clark being appointed delegate. The sub-committee appointed to ai*range the Australian tour submitted the following programme :— The team should leave Dunedin by the Waikare' on. Jan. 30, arriving at Hobart on Feb. . ; play South, Tasmanian Association at Hobart on Feb. 7, E| and 9 ; play North Tasmanian Association at Launceston on Feb. 11, 13 and 14 ; leave Launceston for Melbourne on Feb. 14; play Victoria at Melbourne on Feb. 17, 18 and 20, and New South Wale, at Sydney on Feb. 23, 24 and 25; leave Sydney by the Waikare on Saturday evening, Feb. 25, arriving at Dunedin on March 4, the trip thus being accomplished in five weeks. Mr Wilding presented the report of the subcommittee (Messrs Carter and Collins, and himself) .et np to daal with the appointment of a manager for the New Zealand team. _Ir F. U. Raphael, who had expressed his willingness to accept the position, was unanimously recommended. So high an opinion did the sub-committee entertain of Mr Raphael's qualifications that no' ether names were submitted. _Ir Wilding moved the adoption of the report, which was seconded by Mr Fowke. Mr Wood proposed that Mr C. R. Smith should be appointed manager. Mr Smith liad done an immense amount of work for the CoSmeil, and his claims should be recognised. After some discussion the report was adopted, with only one dissentient, one of the delegates refraining from voting. Mr Mark Cohen, who, it was understood, would be paying a visit to Australia at the same time as the cricket team, was appointed scorer. The appointment of an umpire was deferred till tlie Ti__ct meeting of the Council. The meeting then closed.

The Vice-president's Cup game between the Sydenham A and B teams was concluded last evening, the B team winning by 12 runs. Scores : — B team 78 and 74 : A te-.m 56 and 84. The game between the Sydenham and Normal Schools, which practically decides the schools competition, was played yesterday, and resulted in a win for the Sydenham school by an innings and 19 runs. The scores were : — Sydenham 42 ; Normal 15 and 8. Robson bowled excellently for Sydenham, taking seven wickets for 8 runs in the first innings and six wickets for 2 runs in the second.
