CYCLING.
■ ■ .. ■ . ' . * »■ The -A^hburtcn Amateur Cycling • and ' Athletic- Club held a road race yesterday. The course was from the Central Hotel, Ashburton, down the Wakanui Eoad to its junction, with Beach Eoad, and thence back to Ashburton,. finishing near the -Eoyal Hotel, a distance of about ten miles. " There were-fourteen starters. The winner "was C. Willis, scr; H. Sarginson, 3min, 45sec being second, and G. Dickenson, lmin, third. The winner's time was 26min sHmin. The arrangements in connection with ■the Floral Fete are rapidly approaching .completion, and the exceptionally large number of .entries received point to a successful gathering. The cycling portion of the programme promises to be' particularly attractive. At Lancaster Park ithe various teams are engaged each evening practising, and a rehearsal of the musical ride took placd on the liwn last evening. It is intended to hold'ajjaonster procession of cyclists on the day^of the. Fete, in which all wheelmen and wheel-" women are invited to talre part. The organisation of the procession is in the hands of tho Pioneer and ■ Christchurch Cycling Clubs.
