ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A telegram was received last evening to the effect that a young Maori, named Nauhire, belonging to the St Stephen's pa, Kaiapoi, had been drowned at Studholme Junction during the day. No particulars of the fatality are to hand. The body of a newly born male infant was discovered at the Sewage Depot, on the Sandhills, yesterday morning by one of the workmen who was employed in covering the sewage with sand. Dr Symes made a post-mortem examination of the child . last night. An inquest will be held at the Clarendon Hotel at 9.30 this morning. The three - year - old son of Mr Paddy, who was severely burnt on the face and head, at Sumner, on Tuesday evening, through tne flame of a spirit lamp shooting up, is progressing favourably towards recovery. "'
