A COMPREHENSIVE PROPOSAL.
At the meeting of the City Council last 1 evening, Councillor Gray gave notice that j at next meeting he would move — " That a committee, consisting of the Mayor, Coun- ] cillors Prudhoe, J. T. Smith, Appleby, Km- [ caid, Sorensen, and the mover, be set up to consider the advisableness, or otherwise, of (a) acquiring, by purchase, the property of the Christchurch Gas Company ; (b) acquiring, by purchase, the properties of the
Uanterbiiry. ' Tramway Company, the New . I3righb;h Tramway/Company, and the City md' Suburban Tramway Company ; (c) the sstablishing of a high pressure water-supply | Eor Christchurch, to be extended, if deemed lecessary, to the suburban boroughs ; (d) the raising of money for the proposed abattoirs ; (c) the purchase of land suitable fer a. central yard for Council purposes ; (f) the , wiping out of the present municipal over- i draft ; (g) the raising, by way of loan, of ! . sufficient money to carry out all, or any, of i ' the foregoing undertakings." - j
