S CHOOL COMMITTEES.
The first ordinary meeting of " the Amberley School Committee was held on May 12;. present — Messrs Dalziel (chair- , man), Wornall, Holton, Turner, Brown and Rogers; A very hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Kaiapoi Dramatic Club for their kindness in giving the first concert in aid of the School Piano Fund, at ! which the receipts were .£l2 9s 6d, expenditure £2 25s 7d, leaving a balance of <£9 133 lld. Also to Mr Alley (master) for his exertions -with regard to the same concert. The piano was vested in the committee, and rules were drawn up for its use. A special meeting is to be held next week to discuss the advisability of starting cooking and sewing classes.
