Alleged False; Pretences. — A stock and skin dealer of Waimate, named Patrick Reid, who was arrested at Christchurch on March 19, by Detective Fitzgerald, was charged before the Stipendiary Magistrate at Timaru yesterday with obtaining £>!■ 17s and M 19s from T. Cronin, licensee of the Criterion Hotel, on March 17 and 18, by means of valueless cheques. MiRaymond prosecuted and Mr Hay defended. After hearing the evidence, the Court dismissed the information. .', Presentation. — • A social meeting of the Bolleston Sports Committee was held on Monday evening in the schoolroom, for the purpose of presenting the Secretary, Mr B. O'SKaughnessy, with a gold albert and pendant, suitably inscribed, in recognition of his services in connection with the recent sports. Mr Kyan, who presided, made the presentation, after which the toast of the recipient was proposed and drunk to musical accompaniment. After songs had been sung by some of the members and light refreshments handed round, a very pleasant evening came to a close.
