An accident occurred yesterday at Kaipoi, at 11 o'clock, by which Cornelius O'Sullivan broke one of his legs. He was driving in a dogcart, in company with a lady and another gentleman. When going over White's Bridge a dog ran between the horse's legs, frightening the horse and sending it along at a smart pace. While turning the sharp corner at the end of the bridge one wheel sank into a hole in the side of the road, upsetting the cart and throwing the occupants out with some violence. Mr O'SuUivan retained his hold on the reins, with the result that he was dragged for some distance, and the splashboard going over his leg broke it. The other occupants, who were unhurt, quickly to the horse's head. The injured i.an was brought to the Christchurch liospital, and is progressing favourably.
