A GREAT COLONISING:SCHEME.
On<s of the greatest colonisation schemes in the "history of the world has been (according to an.American journal) set going by John Jacob Astor, multi-million-aire, of New York. He has organised a syndicate that has practically taken entire control of the affairs of Honduras. A National Bank has been started there, lighthouses erected, a revenue, service inaugurated, and railroad construction commenced. The syndicate has taken control of the Custom House under a guarantee to the Government of 1,000,000 dols a year, and has already cut 16,000 dols a month off the old-time smuggling gains. Colonisation is being made for the purpose of working a great coffee belt, and the promoters expect to make millions out of their enterprise.
