THE TAILOEING TEADE. The Christohuroh. Tailoring Trade Union haß. drawn up a statement of wages and conditions,, and: has submitted it to the employers. The Union asks ; f or acceptance of the conditions within a specified time. . The following are ■ tbo "conditions proposed -. — '^.(l) The" hours of .labour ! not to be more than forty-eight per week; work to be done between B. a.m.- and 6 p.m.' on • the first five days, and 8 a.m. and l : p.m. on Saturday. : (2) :AU overtime from 6 p.m. to II p.m.. to... be paid -time -and- a quarter, double time- after p.m. to be paid for the firßt five days, after one- on Saturdays to 6 p.m. tim_- , arid.'_ i quarter; after 6 p.m. time and a half • oh holidays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. time and a quarter, after 5 p.m. double time. (3) Not- more -than -two weekly hands to be employed -in' each'shop, two males -or two females, or one male and one' female, provided machinists, pressors and -persons kept for repairs and alterations aie notaffected. (4) Wages for weekly hands to be— males, minimum £2 15s per week, females ;.-JBl..'_2s : \od.. (5) The proportion of < apprentices to be one to four men, or fraction- of the first four. . For the first four ttailoresses or pressors, or fraction : of the first four, one apprentice, and so on in the same proportion. (7) Wages of apprehtic.s-ir-ffiftlfe.2B 6d, ss, 7s6d, 10s, 12s 6d, 15s, 17S'6d,;2Ps/25s and 30s per week during the respefitiye half-years; 4 (8) . Female apprentices, ' ! 2s 6d, ss, 7s 6_, 10s, 15s and 20s. (9); __ fair distribution to be made of work in each workshop. (10) Union- members -to' be employed in preference to non-members.
