A question having been raised as to the feasibility of fixing tanks inside the roof of the Mark's ward on brick walls, which are corridor walls, and only extend to the level of upper ceilings. Your committee have written to the architects on the subject, their reply lies on tbe table. Tenders for supplies for. the ensuing year were duly received and carefully examined. The following are recommended for acceptance : Groceries, _\ A. Cook ; meat, H. S. Harris ; fish and poultry, Dennis Bros. ; milk (pure), S. Sparks ; bread, R. Sutherland ; drugs, C. M. Akaroa Hospital— Groceries and bread, Arming; meat, Hart; milk, Fyfe. The committee call your attention to the pleasing fact that no additional levies will be required from local bodies. The committee wish to remind the Board that in the year 1893, and again in 1894, reports were presented, and the Board decided to light the hospital with electricity, and went so far as to obtain plans and specifications from a firm of electrical engineers in England. The work was delayed to allow of the requirements of the Nurses' Home, then in course of erection, being taken into account. Since that date the erection of the Mark's wardhas rendered it advisable to again postpone the work. During the past year, however, tracings of all buildings requiring light have been again sent to the same firm— Messrs Holmes and Co., of Newcastle on-Tyne— and fresh plans and specifications and estimates have just been received from them. Your committee now strongly recommend the allocation of the greater portion of their surplus for this purpose, and also for the purpose of obtaining extra boiler, even now required. The amount in hand will be amply sufficient to provide for the above work. HOUSE SURGEON'S REPORT.
