THE AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.

PRESBYTERY. The Rev R. Sommerville, in inducting the Rev James Milne, late of Oamaru, to the charge of St Andrew's, Auckland, re: ferred to the difficult' task Mr Milne had before him to restore peace, harmony, happiness and prosperity to the congregation. These,, he said, had not been enjoyed in full measure since the congregation divided over Mr Milne two.years ago. ...While. Mr Milne had to be congratulated on having many attached and faithful friends, who had never wavered in their friendship, he must be sympathised with because the whole congregation was not with him. He came among a divided people, and his spirit, methods, teaching and success would be carefully noticed. The Presbytery had evidence that he would disappoint the expectations of those who were opposed to him, and more than answer the expectations of those who looked to him as the man who would raise St Andrew's to the position of prosperity and influence it ought to occupy as the mother church of Presbyterianism in the district.
