SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
♦ The monthly meeting of the Opawa School Committee was held on March 7 j present — Messrs Wood (chairman), Bray and North. The head-master's report stated the attendance to have been 212 - 7 for the previous month. The Board of Education was thanked for the steps taken to fill the position of pupil teacher vacated in the school, Mr R. S. Pearson having been appointed to the vacancy. The Board had also decided to comply with the urgent request of the committee to make some necessary alterations at the school during the holidays. It was reported that the work of sinking a deep well for the school would be taken in hand in a few days. A discussion arose in regard to the most suitable material for the girls' sewing instruction, and it was decided to recommend flannelette. A few small accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting closed.
