The Times states that General Lewis has made the fort at Atbara on the Nile impregnable. Mahmud's main body has readied Elaliah, twenty-five miles distant. Eecerrod March 19, 12.50 mm. [ CAIRO, Mabch 18. ; Mahmnd, with his troops, desired to follow the course of the Nile, but Osman Digna insisted that he should cross at Atbara. Ultimately Osman's plan was adopted.
