Saturday, March 19. (Before Mr W. H. Hargreaves, J.P., and Mr W. H. Thompson, J.P.) Drunkenness. — Charles Morgan was fined 10s, or in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. — Maggie Griffin, an old offender, was fined 10s, or in default fortyeight hours' imprisonment. Charges of Larceny. —Samuel Cousins wa3 charged with stealing a watch value £1 os, the property of Jonathan Booker. The accused, who pleaded not guilty, was remanded to March 25. —James Wright was charged with stealing a .£1 note from William Gilbert at the Cafe on March 12. The accused pleaded not guilty. Gilbert stated that he was in the Cafe with some more men, and had been drinking, and that accused snatched the note from his hand, but did not leave the place. Two other witnesses gave evidence. Accused was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labour.
