The Proprietors of the "Canterbury Times" propose to inaugurate a series of Photographic Competitions open to bona fide amateur photographers in all parts of New Zealand. For the first competition three prizes will be offered. It is essential that the photographs sent in shonld.be suitable for reproduction in the paper ; otherwise, they will be considered ineligible for competition. Pictures which have previously appeared in other journals are prohibited. Photographs may be printed on any paper by any process, and may be of any size, provided they be not smaller than quarter-plate. They must be mounted on plain card mounts. Competent judges have been secured, who are instructed to consider :— First, Artistic Exceixesok ; second, Technical Excellehce ; third, Suitability for Bepropuction. PRIZES.
