CHRISTCHFRCH. Friday, March 18. (Before Mr W. H. Cooper, .T.P., Mr E. O'Connor, .T.P., Mr F. Hobbs, J.P., and Mr W. J. Neate, J.P.). Drunkenness. — Thomas Brown was charged on remand with having been ! drunk on Wednesday. Accused denied [ the charge. The evidence of Constable Casselis and the night watchman at the station Hwas taken, and they stated that, besides being drank, he was very violent, refusing to be searched. He was fined ss, with the usual alternative. Alleged Larceny.— Samuel Lee and Frederick Kemp, two hawkers, were charged with stealing a quantity of zinc, value 3s 9d, the property of G. Ellingford. Mr Donnelly appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. The casewas dismissed. Assault.— Thomas Torish was charged with assaulting Euth Foster at Addington on March 7. Mr Hunt appeared for .the defendant, who pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence, the Bench held the charge to be proved, and fined the defendant 5s and costs. Breach of City By-Laws.— John Garrard for driving a vehicle after dark and neglecting to display two lights, was fined 5s and costs. Prohibition Order.— Prohibition orders I were granted against two men, to take ! effect in the Christchurch and surrounding districts for one year. I Non-attendance at School.— C. Hodges, 1 S.
