DUNEDIN, Makch 17. A further rainfall has made the Forbury tracks soft, and all the morning work was done on the main course. St Paul went the Cup distance at three-quarter pace, and Emmeline did a fast mile. Arline beat Realistic over seven furlongs, while Starshot and Antares appeared about a match at a mile, but it was not raced out. Maremma headed Lady Harriet and St Clements at the end of five furlongs. Black and Red did a mile and a half at his best pace, Belle Clair and Blazer being his companions. St Ouida and Nihilist covered a fast half mile, and Eed Lancer wentsevenfurlongsfast. Fulmen and Signet went five furlongs fast. Sequin covered about amileand a half at a sound pace, taken along by Hippomenes, and then by Benson. Prime Warden stuck up his rider, and the trainer then mounted him and persuaded him to exercise. He did only half-pace work, but moved very well. Pitch and Toss and Euroclydon did a mile and a half in a trifle under 2min oOsec, finishing together, and both pulling up well. Epaulet, showing no signs of the reported soreness, ran two miles in even time. The arrivals include Mr Hobbs's Proposal, Dundas and Bloomer, and Mr Holmes's Seabrook. Conqueror, Altair, Decoy, Lepanto and others did light tasks.
