ST PATRICK'S DAY.
The vocalists will include Signora Venosta, Mrs E T. Robinson, Misses Lucy R yan , C and M. O'Brian, Burke, Poff O'Connell and Fowler, Messrs C. Read P. Hockley, R. Halley, W. A. Hall, J. and R. Peterson and others; and musical items will -be given by young from the Convent of the Sacred Heart and by Mr H. Kossiter'a orchestra and the Banjo and Guitar Band. On Thursday a Catholic demonstration will be held on the Kiccarton Racecourse, when a programme of sports will be gone through. Special trains will leave the Christchurch Railway Station at 10.30 a.m. and 215 p.m. The children are requested to meet at the southern end of Barbadoes Street at 9.30 a.m. The Timaru St Patricks- Day Sports Association gives particulars concerning the excursion train which will leave Christchurch for Timaru at 7.55 on Thursday morning, and return at 5.30 p.m. As the champion bicycle riders of the colony, and also the Irish champion, H. Reynolds, will compete, the contests should be well worth witnessing. The meeting will be the first cycling meeting held in South Canterbury under the League of Wheelmen's rules. The excursion fares are so reasonable that the train will doubtless be well patronised.
