SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
A meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough School Committee was held on Monday evening; present — Messrs Moore (chairman), Feldwick, Coup, Armitage, Ellen, Clark and Young. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs Butcher and Caverhill. Correspondence was received from the Board of Education, oifering to pay half cost of boundary fence between the school grounds and Mr J. L. Wilson's property. Referred to the Chairman and the Works Committee. The question of forming classes for technical education was postponed till next meeting. It was resolved to recommend the new committee to consider the advisableness of joining the School Committees' Association. The head-master reported the number on the roll 506, with an average of 4642, an in-: crease of 16*1 on last month. . A request from the master for £2 towards mounting pictures for the school walls was granted. Accounts amounting to j£2 11s 6d were passed, and it was decided to write to the Education Board relative to cleaning out the drain connected with the school, as it was in a dangerous state. The next committee meeting was'fixed for the first Monday in April instead of Easter Monday.
