PICNICS.

• A large proportion of those engaged in the fish trade of the ' city attended the second annual trade picnic, which was held at Tai Tapu yesterday. Eight fourhorse drags and about twenty-five other vehicles conveyed the pleasure-seekers. The various vehicles were gaily decorated, and a brass band headed the procession. The first prize for the best decorated cart fell to Mr E. Portelli, the second to Mr T. Wheeler, and the third to Mr A. Boardman. For the best-kept turn-out Mr G. E. Fail took first prize, Mr T. Strahan second, and Mr A. Burns third. A sports programme was held, with the following results : — " Girls' Eace, under fifteen— Misa Eastviclc 1, Miss Shave 2.
