In mine shares, the Waihi-Silverton show a marked decline,' due to a scheme of reconstruction to be put. before the shareholders at a meeting in London this month. It is proposed to assess the present 7000 shares with a liability of 6s each, 2s to be paid on application. This will provide the company with .£21,000 for working capital. In consequence, the colonial share register will be closed on March 17. GEEYMOUTH, March 13. The coal exports for the week are :— Blackball, 720 tons 15 cwt ; Brunner, 1161 tons 7 cwt ; coke, 12 tons 5 cwt; bricks, 2 tons 5 cwt ; timber, 270,411ft. Eeefton gold returns : — Alpine, 2140z Sold from 643 tons; Bulier dredge, 28oz gold for 132 hours. WESTPOBT, March 12. . The coal export for the week ending to-day was 7797 tons 16 cwt. The "Westport Coal Company shipped 6734 tons, and the Cardiff Company, 1063 tons 16 cwt. DUNE DIN, March 12. The Clyde dredge return is 240z of gold for the week ; the Dunedin dredge, 17oz ; and the Enterprise, 21oz 18dwt 14gr. The following report of the Mount Lyell Mining andEailway Company for the week ending Feb. 16 has been received from. Dunedin from our special correspondent : — Smelting plant No. 1 : Five furnaces in operation ; foundation for new fifth blower completed, and blower received. Extension of main brick flue for No. 6 ; furnace in progress ; water jackets of this furnace received. Smelting plant No. 2 : Excavation for site well in hand. All earthwork for embankment completed for siding from 1 in 16 gradient to the present slag dump. Inclined haulage tramway in progress from brick-plant yard to new silt. Preparations in hand for bricklaying of the main retaining wall, and excavation in progress for site of new chimney. New laboratory— Building fully roofed over, and the floors are in progress. A muffle crucibleand hot-plate furnaces are in course of erection. New machine shop — Flooring and other carpenter work completed. The foundations are going in for a steam hammer. Wo expect soon to remove to the new smithy. New general office— The erection is in progress. New sawmill — Portable engine has just been received, and converter plant. New loading platform — In course of erection for duplication. Fire thousand three hundred and thirfcy-two tons of blister copper have been consigned to date, being 2067 tons for the current half-year. Total production to date 5385 tons.
