"LYTTELTON TIMES" SICK FUND SOCIETY.

m The nineteenth annual general meeting of the Lyttclton Times Sick Fund Society •was held atthe Clarendon Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance, and the President, Mr A. Sugden, occupied the chair. The annual report showed that the receipts for the year 1897 had been £202 2s Hd, and that .£l7B 2s lid had been * expended on sick allowance. During the year 19 new members had been elected, and }4 lost from various causes. The nuinber at present on the roll was 117. The report recommended the usual grant of £50 towards the library. The report and the attached balance-sheet, audited by Mr TV. H. Gundry, were adopted unanimously. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year :— Patron, Mr J. C. Wilkin; president, Mr W. Norrie; vice- ' presidents, ' Messrs A. Sugden, H. J. Gretton and A. Currie; honorary treasurer, Mr F. E. Hyman ; secretary, Mr J. Jackman: librarian, Miss Amy; committee, Messrs W. G. Atack, 0. W. Ifccall E. J. Paul], G. Gerard, W. T. M'Kay, G. Jones, A. T. Washer, E. Bartley, T. Eobson E. E. Wright, J. E. Davidson, G. Ardley and A. W. Woodwa\d. It was agreed to request the committee which carried out -„"the picnic of the employes of the company last year to consider, the advisableness of organising a picnic this year. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers, and the meeting closed.
