Sir Christopher Furness has replied to the violent manifesto issued against him by Mr John Burns. Sir Christopher intimates that he is personally favourable to concessions being made by the employers to the Engineers. He. however, declines to become a blackleg in order to win an election. He states that Mr Burns's attack has rendered it impossible f*>r him to retire from the Employers' Federation whilst the York election is in progress. Received Jan. 11, 10.35 a.m. . Since tbe termination ot the Engineers' Conference sixty firms hate locked out their employes. The strike continues to have a ferious effect upon trade. A Wolverhampton firm has bought 16,000 tons of steel iDgots in America, thus saving £8000. ' _^
