The smart coasting schooner Huia has been fitted < with oil engines and an auxiliary screw, and is now ' loading timber at Kaipara for Lyttelton.. She will ; .he the first trading vessel fitted with auxiliary eogines to visit the port. The American barque Penobscot left port yeHter- ?," day morning for Port Chalmers, with part original .cargo of merchandise from New York. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Waikato left port yesterday morning for^London. Messrs Kinsey, Barns and Co. have been advised that Messrs Huddaro, Parker and Co.'s steamer Elingamite is to replace the Anglian in the SydneyNew Zealand trade. The Elingamite, which is the second largest steamer of the company's fleet, has " recently been thoroughly overhauled in every detartment, and has been fitted with new boilers, he will be commanded by Captain H. Thorpe, ? -with Mr Willcox, late of the Tasmania and Anglian, aa chief officer, and with Mr Entwistle as second aad Mr M'Giffin as third. Mr M'Gregor will be chief engineer, Mr Ohurchwood second and Mr Webster third. j
