The heat has been intense during the last few days, and extensive bush fires have occurred in many parts of the island. The Zeehan township and the mines are suffering from fire, and large parties are fighting the flames day and night, several persons being severely burned. Over thirty homesteads, with their contents, in the vicinity of Zeehan, Eingville and Duhdas, have been burned. SALE OF A WEECK. MELBOURNE, Dec. 31. The wreck of the Fitzroy has been sold for .£55. rEecemd Dec. 31,9.25 a.m. STABBED TO DEATH. COOLGARDIE, Dec. 31. An Afghan named Said Adan was stabbed to death at the Afghan camp, near the town. The police arrested Said Mahomet Yah, the murdered man's brother, and Said Mahomet Noor, his partner. Yah confessed to the murder, alleging that Noor offered him .£SO to kill his brother.
