Pulsatob Milking Machine. — The Pulsator Milking Machine Company has received permission to hold a public trial of the machine on Thursday next, at 2.30 p.m., at Lincoln Agricultural College. This trial will afford a large number of those interested in dairying an opportunity of seeing the machine under a most critical test. Eangiora Borough Council. — The nomination of candidates for the annual election of three members of the Eangiora Borough Counjil closes on Monday. The retiring councillors are Messrs G. Cone, T. Keir and J. W. Foster. A requisition to Councillor Cone to allow himself to be re-nominated has been numerously signed. New Church Building.— The Eev T. Farley, vicar of St Saviour's, Temuka, has laid before a meeting of his parishioners a statement of the support he has been promised, towards the erection of a new church in stone,, to be erected on the site of the old building. It is agreed that sufficient has been promised to justify an exhaustive effort, and arrangements have been made for a complete canvass of the district. Land for Settlement. — Final arrangements have been made for the acquisition of the Anaina Estate, in the Ashburton district, under, the Land for Settlements Act, and the property will be taken over by the Government early next year. The Land Purchase Board is now negotiating for two small blocks of land at Heathcote, -which it is intended to subdivide for workmen's homesteads. Going Home. — An old identity of Timaru, Mr William Eenshaw, who has been a carrier in the town for the last twenty years, and who worked previously in the surf-boats for ten years, has recently sold the properties acquired by his thrift, and goes Home in the Tongariro. He first landed in New Zealand at Auckland fortyeight yeara ago. Mr Kenshaw is a native of Sheffield, and he has been very popular in Timaru with those who have known him well. Cycling. — A meeting of persons interested in forming a new Cycling Club was held at Geraldine on Thursday night, when it was decided to form a club, to be called the Geraldine Cycling Club, and the following were the officers appointed.— Patron, Mr A. E. G. Ehodes; president, Mr F. E. Flatman, M.H.E. ; vice-presidents. Messrs J. M'llroy; J. Farrell, H. Eothwell and W. S. Maslin ; captain, Mr J. W. Pye ; vice-captain. Mr A. M'Lean .• secretary, Mr P. Burke ; treasurer, Miss Eiordan ; bugler, Mr J. Pye, jun. ; and a committee consistof the officers and seven others.
