At the outset the police | jnt-matod that the charges would be withdrawn, as the prinoipal witness had been j spirited away. Inspector Pardy hinted ! that a Justice of tho Peace had been instrumental in getting the witness away. The informations were dismissed, but the , Magistrate said he hoped that tho police would not allow the matter to remain as it was now.
