WAIKARI DOG TRIAL.

« The Waikari Collie Dog Club was favoured with beautiful weather yesterday for its annual trial, •which commenced on the grounds of the president (Mr J. Douglas), at Waikari. ' There was a good attendance, and some excellent work was witnessed. The officials all worked well, and as there is a much larger entry than there was last year there is every prospect of the meeting being a ve»y successful one. The shesp used for the trial yesterday ■were some strong merino wethers, which had been purchased from Mr W. W. M'Rae, Tekoa. The following was the result of Class 1, heading and bringing back ; first prize £7, second £4,- third £2, fourth £1 • time 12 minutes ; maximum number of points 30 — Mr W. Anderson's Bruce; time, Bmin 30sec; 28 points, 1. Mr D. Fraser'a Rock ; time, 9min -15sec ; 27 points, 2. Mr H. T. Little's Gather ; time llmin 40sec; 25 points, 3. Mr W. Gilleapie's Wag; time, lOmin lOsec; 24 points, 4. Bruce, who won the Challenge Cup at the meeting last year, again showed splendid all-round form, and the others prize-taker3 also did good work. Twenty other dogs competed. The trial will be continued to-day.
