Tlie Industrial Building and Investment •Society has received .£IOOO from the general manager of the New Zealand Accident and Fidelity Insurance Company, ■which accepted a guarantee for Bancroft, late manager of tho society. The society has also found mining scrip estimated to be worth .£l5O, and £160 worth of good •debts due to Bancroft, and a life interest in a property in a village in Yorkshire. It is considered that the Industrial Society -will "not lose one penny over Bancroft; in fact, it is thought that the manager will be the largest loser. A solemn requiem mass, for the repose of the soul of the late Bishop Luck, was held in the Church of the Assumption, Onehunga, there being a full congregation, many from town attending. His Lordship Bishop Lenihan was the celebi-ant. A handsome memorial tablet was unveiled • immediately after the mass, bearing the following inscription : — " Twits sum ego pax. Of your charity pray for the repose of the soul of the Right Reverend John Edmund Luck, 0.5.8., fourth bishop of Auckland,"
