SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of tlie Richmond School Committee was held on Wednesday ; present — Messrs Snowball (chairman), Paull, Hughes, Bell, Wright; Shaw, Ledsham, Flesher and Sorensen. The master's report stated that the average attendance before the holidays was 455, "' and the roll number 539. The 21s contributed by the committee had heen "awarded to the six hest swimmers among the beginners. Messrs Flesher and Sorensen were appointed a visiting committee for February. Plans for alterations to the bath were received, and it was resolved to "invite tenders. Arrangements were made i'or taking the school children for a trip to .Kaiapoi on Feb, 19, provided the parents were agreeable. Tho sum of .£3 7s wa,s ■received from Mr Ledsham as the net _proceeds of the late concert, and a vote of thanks was passed to all who assisted, .including Messrs Ledsham and' Sorensen. The Secretary was instructed to advertise for two first-year pupil-teachers. .
