CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday, Dec. 17. (Before Mr George Coleman, J.P., and 3lr W. W. Collins, J.P.j Drunkenness. — A first offender was convicted and discharged. (Before Mr R. Beetham. S.M.) Civil Cases. — Judgment was given for plaintiffs by default with costs in the following cases : — Walter A. Wood Company v. C. Mann, claim £25 13s sd ; Lyttelton Times Company v. F. H. King, £o ISs 4d ; same v. Young and Co., .£39 18s 4d ; Smith and Co. v. Leslie and Co., .£2O 15s ; G. L. Beath and Co. v. M. A. Muir, .£9 11s 4d ; Cook and Gray v. J. Gallagher, .£3 10s. — J. "Forrest v. Eliza Allen, claim .£4 18s, commission on the sale of property. Mr Scott appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Flesher for the defendant. The latter stated that the property did not belong to her, and she had given no instructions to the plaintiff. The plaintiff was nonsuited. — I. Allen v. J. J. Reddington, claim .£ll 4s 2d on judgment summons. Mr Hunt appeared for the judgment creditor. The debtor did not appear, and an.order was made for the payment of the amount forthwith, in default five weeks' imprisonment. — Victoria Brewery Company v. J. W. S. Trelawney, claim £6 Is, on judgment summons. Mr Mills appeared for the judgment creditors. The defendant was ordered to pay the amount, in default three weeks' imprisonment, the order to be suspended on his paying at the rate of £1 a week. — The following cases were adjourned : — W. W. Rowe v. A. M. and A. Humphries, till Dec. 19; Walter A. Wood Company v. J. Stewart, till Jan. 7 ; F. H. Bruges v. A. Duncan, till Jan. 11.
