SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The regular meeting of the New Brighton School Committee was held last night; present — Messrs Winny, Owles, Moor, Glanville and Groosman. Correspondence was read from the Board, relative to the extra teacher applied for,' stating that applications for the position had been invited. The master's report was read and considered satisfactory, the total number on the roll being 228. The master also presented a total list of attendances during the past quarter, and it was resolved that a circular be sent to the parents of children who had not attended the requisite number of tim?s. The vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Wells, on leaving the district, was filledby Mr Pine being unanimously elected. It was resolved that the chairman write to the Board and ask it to erect a partition in the large room. An account for .£2 16s was passed for udyment. A special meet? ing of the committee will be held next week" to°select the extra teacher. •
