ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATAL CARRIAGE ACCIDENT. [Pe^i Press Association.l LONDON, Oct. 5. Mr Byron Reid, M.P. for East Bradford, who was recently injured in a carriage accident, has succumbed to his injuries. AUCKLAND, Oct. 6. .Tames Franks, a miner, aged nineteen, who arrived from Waifcekaixri- at'midday, took a room at the Waverley Hotel on the fourth storey. Shortly before dinner the noise of a falling body was heard in the well of the yard. On going out the people were horrified to find Franks lying in a pool of blood, having fallen out of his bedroom window, seventy feet. Marks of his having lain on his bed -were found, and he must have lifted up ins window and gone out.; He brought a cheqxie for .£ll with him. ' It is stated that he had only had some lemonade, tinged with beer, in the afternoon.
