PARMERS AND THE LIBERAL PARTY.

Every Liberal farmer in the House is (the Temuha Leader remarks) a supporter of the Government, and this is a fact whioh the farmers of the colony ought to think over just notf. Why is it' that farmers are supporting the Government and why is it others are not P It would* not be difficult for anyone so unscrupulous and so> devoid of good taste as some of the Left Wing are to explain the fact, but we prefer to allow people to draw their own conclusions. This, however, can be said : The farmers in the House are men of substance, and have to bear a share of the burden of taxation. They see the finances of the colony managed with due regard to economy; they see that during their six years of office the present Gov-' ernment decreased taxation in a great many directions; they see that the in- ; terests of farmers are being zealouslylooked after ; they see that the land is being thrown open to the sons of farmers; they see that there never was a time in the history of the colony when it was easier for young men to get on to the land; they see that the Government are doing their best for the colony as a whole, and they therefore support them. v No doubt they^ do not agree with everything done,by the .
