SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
♦ The usual monthly meeting of the West Christchurch School Committee was held on Wednesday evening; present — Messrs G.T. Chisnall, F. W. Sandford, H. Curlett, J. W. Watson, G. Watson and J. J. Isbister. Mr Chisnall was voted to the chair in ;fche absence of the Chairman. Three tenders for stationery were received, and that of Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs was accepted.' Mr Isbister reported that he had not been able to pass the work done on the school grounds, as it had not been finished to his satisfaction. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Addington School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday evening ; present — Messrs Bowden (chairman), Bell, Down, I'Anson, Gale, Moore and Wood. Apologies were received for non-attendance v from Messrs Brown and Ell. Mr Down reported the result of the recent conference ,'of committees -held in Christchurch, and was with Mr Ell re-appointed delegate to attend any future meeting of the conference. A letter was lead from the Education Board intimating that 4d per load for soil had been offered to the Spreydon Boad Board for filling in the school ground. A further letter from the Board was read, stating that in future no one under the age of fifteen would be eligible for the position of a pupil teacher.
