EDUCATION BOARD.
SOUTH CANTEEBURY. The monthly meeting of the South Canterbury Education Board was held on Wednesday; all the members being present except Mr Seddon, who sent an apology. The Inspector submitted reports on the standard examinations of a number of schools, including the Eoman Catholic schoolsatTemuka.WaimateandKerrytown. The Inspector's general showed that the Kerry town school had passed a good examination, but there were too many absentees; Waimate had passed a fairly good examination, but Teinuka was not favourably reported on. It was reported that after the lapse of several years, a committee had been obtained at Eedcliff, in view of an early change of master, and the present head-master sent in his resignation. The Pareora'Committee sent a resolution asking for a change of teacher "in the interests of education," but gave no reasons. The Board resolved to ask for reasons, and to ask the master for any explanation he might desire to make.. A dispute having arisen at Pleasant Point over the manner of selecting a pupil-teacher, the Board gave instructions for the steps to be taken over again, preceded by sufficient notice to possible candidates.
