POLITICAL NOTES.
[From Our Correspondent.! . WELLINGTON, £eft. 10. 1 00PTRI3HT TEMEGJ&A3IS. 'The examination of Mr jA^ck, th€ manager of the Press Association, was concluded at the Copyright Telegrams Committee meeting to-day. It is stated that the witness, though pressc 1 , resolutely refused to give any information as to the scale of entrance fees charged, on the ground that it would be divulging private business with customers. As the Hons (J. Jones (Oamaru), H. Feldwick (Invercargill), Jennings (Auckland) and Major Steward (Ashburton) have. volunteered to giye evidence, it is unlikely that the Committee's' investigations will close this week. , THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE. I understand on good authority that the Public Trusteeship lies between Mr M'Gowan.-at present. Commissioner of Taxes, and Mr Martin, the Stipendiary Magistrate here. The matter will probably be settled in a few days.
