[Per Press Ass6clA'Mon,T SUBSIDENCE IN A MINE. SYDNEY, Sept. 9. The men were about to resume work in Wickham Colliery, Bullock Island, when a further subsidence was detected, and an examination showed that a heavy fall from the roof was imminent. The mine has, therefore, been laid idle until the ground thoroughly Bettles. WORK FOR THE UNEMPLOYED. SYDNEY, Sept. 10. As part of a scheme for finding work for the unemployed, the Government has arranged to clear 3,000,000 acres of scrub country on the Bogan River, which will provide work for 1000 men. Already a million acres of land have been applied for under scrub leases. STEAMER WRECKED. The new steamer Chindera went ashore in the Tweed River, and is breaking up. FRENCH TRADING- STEAMERS. Information has been received that the French New Hebrides Company, has despatched two steamers from Havre to, take up the company's : trade between the New Hebrides and New Caledonia.
