The i Government to-day placed a smart steam- J launch at the disposal of the New t Zealanders, both for the purpose of \ coaching and viewing the racing on, ( Saturday. Both the Victorian and c New Zealand crews were on the j river this afternoon. The Maorilanders i got in splendid pace work, but J Daly < managed to break his oar. The Vic- < torians, though rather jerky, can get a ( rare turn of speed on, and will take a { tremendous lot of beating on Saturday. \ The New South "Welshmen were training £ .lower down the harbour, but have now j moved up the river. The Queenslanders ( have withdrawn from the contest. • ] The conference of rowing delegates will j be held to-morrow, not on Saturday, as at first arranged. '
