THE' HON DE POLLEN. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Mat 18. The Hon Dr Pollen died this morning at Avondale. [The Hon Dr Pollen, M.L.C., who -wae once the premier of New Zealand, emigrated to this colony and settled in the Auckland district. He held a position in the Civil Service, and was appointed a member of the Legislative Council. He was a member of the second Fox Ministry, without portfolio, from July, 1861, to August; 1862, and of the second Stafford Government from June, IS6B, to June, 1869. Having j been reappointed to the Legislative Council in 1873, he was Premier and Colonial! Secretary from July, 18?5, to February, 1876,. when he took office under Sir J. Yogel as Colonial Secretary, and held the post under that gentleman and Major j Atkinson till October,. 1877. He was also Minister of Native Affairs from December, 1576, till he retired with his colleagues in October, 1877.] ,
