VOLTINTEEB DIBTRICTB. — The TOltUlteet sab-districts of North Otago and Southland, which were united with Otago, have been separated from that district. Eyreton Domain Board. — A public meeting will take place at the Road Board office, Ohoka, on June 1, to elect a membei of the Ohoka and Eyreton Domain Board in place of the late Mr Marniaduke Dixon. Kaiaeoi Borough School.— Owing tc painting and other repairs being in pro' gress at this school the opening has beei postponed from Monday to Wedneßdaj next. . . Mission Services.— The last of a series oi revival services, conducted by the Rev. G Soltau, was held in the Presbyteriar Church, Kaiapoi, yesterday evening, anc was very largely attended. Mr Soltau haf held a series of meetings for childrei during the afternoons. Alarm of Fire.— About one o'clock pi Friday morning the fire-bell at Ashburtox rang out an alarm. All Nations' Fair.— A fair underjthis title opened at Ashburton on Thursday, ii the Oddfellows' Hall. The arrangement! were very complete, and the large numbe] of visitors were much pleased with th< different shows to be seen in the room. A capital selection of music was given in th< evening. Sumner Borough Council. — A specia meeting of the Sumner Borough Counci was held last evening for the purpose o considering a notice of motion given a last meeting of the Council, to strike x rate of 13d in the £ instead of the presen rate of lOd. There were present the Mayo: (Mr W. Kitson), Councillors. Lake, Pratt Graham and Hanmer, The motion was put to the meeting and carried, CounciUoi Graham dissenting. , . Waimate Brass Band. — The annua meeting of the Waimate Brass Band wai held at the drillshed, Waimate, on Tues day evening, Mr Harwood in the chait The balance-sheet and report were read bj the Secretary, Mr W". J.
